Q-Redew | The Handy Hair Steamer

One of my favorite hair tools of all time is the Q-Redew Hair Steamer. It's become quite the staple for my hair regiment and is as equally important to me as my diffuser. It has become a handy hair necessity for me serving two main purposes for my personal use which are:

- Deep Conditioning

- Hair revival & Stretching

What is it?

"The Q-Redew is a handheld hair steamer that quickly restores moisture, rejuvenates and reshapes hair using warm steam as mist. Used on dry hair it revives hair and leaves it dry."

The steamer itself is pretty easy to use!

- Take out the resevoir that stores the water for the steam.

- Flip it over and undo the little white cap.

- Pour water inside the small opening and close.

- Click resevoir back into the steamer.

Once the resevoir is all set, plug it in and make sure the red light is blinking. It literally takes less than 60 seconds for the water to heat up completely. The red light will stop blinking to indicate that the steamer is now ready for use. What's awesome is that you get to control targeted areas and the amount of steam that comes out by simply pressing and releasing the button!

DEEP CONDITIONING

I usually make time to deep condition my hair at least twice a month (bi-weekly) to make sure I am giving my hair the proper TLC it needs. Some of my favorite deep conditioners are, Monoi by Carol's Daughter, Quenched Curls by Dove, Silicon Mix, and a few DIY mixes using shea butter & coconut oil.

After applying my deep conditioner, I steam my hair using the Q-Redew for about 10 minutes (5 minutes for both my left and right side). Once my steaming time is up, I rinse out the conditioner with cool water and my hair feels EXTRA moist and healthy! There's a huge difference between steaming vs. not steaming when conditioning the hair.

Benefits of steaming are:

- It opens up the cuticle, allowing nutrients from your conditioner to truly penetrate the hair strand for optimum deep condtioning results. Steaming the hair has been proven to be more effective than just letting it sit with a plastic cap, while also cutting down the time of your deep conditioning session.

- It moisturzes the hair and leaves it more managable for styling. It enhances the curl pattern for natural wear or leaves the hair more pliable for straightening, causing less breakage due to dryness or lack of elasticity.

- It's excellent for the scalp! I like to say, steaming is like a spa treament for the scalp. It drastically eliminates itchy and dry scalp and feels AMAZING! When I'm having issues with dry scap, I'll add drops of Tea Tree Oil to my scalp before hand and it's the most delightful feeling ever. Doing this also helps kill bacteria and works like a charm! Also, because the Q-Redew is hand held, it's much easier to target troubled areas.

REFRESHING/STRECHING

The Q-Redew is amazing for refreshing my second and/or third day hair! I usually don't let my hair go past four days without washing, but I'm sure if I did, I would be able to totally stretch the days out with the steamer! I have course hair (thick strands) and my hair tends to feel hard when it gets "old." The steam softens my hair making it feel "new" again thus making it last longer!

STYLING

The Q-Redew has become the number one tool (in conjunction with my hair pick) for stretching my hair when I'm in the mood for an exta boost in length. I simply steam my hair at the roots only and go in with my hair pick right after. It's much healthier than using my blow dryer and the process is actually faster as well. The great thing is, because of it's hand held design and comb like shape, it won't disturb your texture or curls, so there's no need to be worried that your hair will turn frizzy from the steam!

As you can see there's no doubt as to why I LOVE my Q-Redew! It's quick, easy and effective and I don't travel without it!

If You're looking for an affordable steamer ($69.95) that is great for not only moisturizing your hair with a great deep condition and scalp treatment, but also gives you a few quick styling options, Q-Redew is worth a try!
